The first sixteen seconds of the song sounds very epic like something you'd here over the top of an establishing shot in some extremely atmospheric movie like one of the Lord of The Rings movies. Not exactly a bad thing when all is said and done.

I like that after this the song slowly builds up layer by layer and feels like it is leading up to something big. As I see that you have uploaded this under the "Video Game" category I can only imagine that this would be on a fast paced, platform game in the level before a boss battle. Of course this could just be how I'm interpreting this track.

Towards the end of the track I have to say that it had a sense of too much repetition for my taste but needless to say I can really see this being picked up and used in a game at some point. Though maybe making it into a loop would have been better. My knowledge of music unfortunately doesn't allow me to know if this would be practical or possible.

A great audio all in all.

Thanks! I agree with your interpretations, and they are pretty much in sync with my ideas on this song. I've got a lot to work on, and thanks for helping point out what that is. Great review! :)

Your username and the fact that this song is called Chilled Vibes gave me the impression that I probably should smoke a joint whilst listening to this. It's usually a good sign, I wasn't disappointed.

As the name suggested it was pretty chilled out and I could listen to it a few times in a row. I feel that maybe a little more variety in the song wouldn't have gone amiss, like what happened towards the end but more. If you get what I mean. Other then this I really can't think of something that I'd improve on. Maybe would have made it into a 5 minute epic but that's just me being over the top, possibly.

So yeah, in summary good job. Keep it up.

Very well done, the beat instantly hits you and you know straight away that this is an audio created by one of the Newgrounds users that knows a thing or two about music.

I can imagine that this would be used in a high speed, platform game. One of the ones where you have to keep up with the screen but a more extreme version. It's simple, not too long or repetitive and too be fair it is quite catchy. It come as no surprise to me that it has more downloads then any of my audios could dream of.

It is a big congrates from me as I do believe you have created something great here. I only took half a star off because i would have liked to see a tiny bit more variety in it.

It took me a while to see where this was going as I'm not going to read a description that long, that's just madness. Once I understood I could see that this is a great audio track and would work perfectly as some kind of menu music for Empire Earth or another game similar.

I can't really think of a way that this could be improved as I'm not the most musically minded person and to me it seemed perfect. All Ican really say is keep it up and I'll keep an eye out for your next piece.

Hey, thanks for the review! I'm glad you liked it. ^_^

I doubt it's perfect, but I definitely understand the "not-musically-minded" thing. I'm the same way with visual art most of the time. xD

It's very retro but because of this it suffers from some of the down sides of retro video game audio tracks. I'm not the best correct terminology for audio but i'll try my best here. It seems very grainy, after a couple of loops it starts to hurt the ear and for a video game loop that is bad as it'd probably be playing over and over again in the background of a level or something.

It's not all bad though, it reminded me of something that'd be on one of the early Worms games.

Irtorius responds:

That which hurts your ears is just probably just my bad mixing =P

It's good that I caught that retro feel at least, and that it wasn't all bad =)

A great version of the song, it instantly took me back all those years ago to when I first played the Pokemon series. I thought that the use of the X1 guitars was a good call. I'll be honest and say I'm not quite sure what that means but I do know that the guitars where a definite highlight.

I could really see this being used in some old style Pokemon parody.

chaoticmarin responds:

The X1 guitars, ESPECIALLY the distortion guitar sound just... They have a very different sound to them. Compare Storm Eagle to one of the guitar heavy X2 or X3 boss stage themes to see what I mean.

A nice subtle, relaxing song. Have to admit that I'm a little high and just decided to go into the audio portal and review. This was just the ticket to chill with a cigarette to. I imagine that it'd go well with one of the more lengthy, dramatic flashes that you get in the portal from time to time.

A great ambient track that deserves the five stars easily.

Very good, in fact one of the best ambient songs I've heard on Newgrounds. It was almost instantly relaxing and reminded me a little of a mix between the Rainbow Road course on Mario Cart's music and the theme from Zora's Domain in Ocarina of Time. It's all good.

Personally I think that the melody could have been just a little quieter but other then that (and that is me kinda looking for faults) it's great.

Keep it up

When I first started to listen I thought that maybe this had been put under the wrong genre but up on reading the author comments and seeing "Dream Theater" being mentioned I thought that it might have got a bit heavier, maybe I'm thinking of the wrong band. The name Rotten is a little confusing to as you think Rotten, heavy metal. This should be pretty heavy shit. Anyway thats trivial stuff so can't judge too harshly for that.

For what it was it was a good song and I did enjoy it. I found it to kind of relaxing in a strange way as for your comment about the guitar being way too loud I don't think it was that loud to be honest. I think it adds to the song, it'd seem a tad more boring if that was made to be more quiet.

So, yeah. Good song just maybe think of better names ;).

Mau3000 responds:

My sincere thanks!
The name Rotten has to do with my mistake with the guitar... When I first listened, I said: "Cool, the guitar is freaking loud. I just got my song rotten."

Again, thanks for listening!
See ya!

I liked the keyboard intro which gave the sound a nu-metal feel much similar to Fear Factory. It's a shame to hear of your vocalist as I really think that this song could have done with some strong vocals to take it to the next level. I'd strongly suggest finding a new one.

Alround it was a good metal instrumental but I truely feel that a metal instrumental is limited it what it can achieve. No matter how good the song is it'll always lack.
